An Ode To Lip Crayons
For me, the love affair with lip crayons started out with the Clinique Chubby sticks. We had a good thing going on for a long time, but when I saw highstreet brands producing their own versions, I was smitten.
The colour pay off from the Clinique Chubby Sticks is really impressive, and even though they smell a bit odd, the shade range is huge. My two favourites? Chubby Stick Intense in the shade Plushest Punch, A pink-y, berry toned number that is really striking once applied, and stays on all day. Mega Melon is also a firm favourite, partly because it was the first one I tried, and partly because its just a really lovely shade! A pinky-nudey-browny- number which is perfect for the everyday. When Revlon brought out their matte and lacquer balms in January of this year, everyone in the blogging world seemed to sit up and take notice, with a huge variety of shades and a choice of two finishes, it's pretty to hard to fault Revlon with this one! The first one I picked up was Audacious, a coraly-orange that just lights up your whole face, this is definitely a shade I can see myself reaching for in the warmer (and hopefully!), sunnier months. Next up was a lacquer balm in the shade Vivacious - a vibrant pink to be paired with a striped tee and a messy up-do. I love wearing this on rushed days because it just switches up your whole look to make it seem you've made an effort ( lazy student points). Following the lacquer trend, I picked up another lacquer balm in the shade Demure. This was just too pretty to pass up and even though I much prefer the matte formula, I love this pinky-nude shade with a slight hint of shimmer. My final offer from Revlon is one I occasionally pinch from Mamma Tee in the shade Flamboyante- a very bright, bold pink offering, verging on neon which adds the perfect pop of colour to an otherwise muted look. After a recommendation from amyalaska, I picked up the Soap & Glory Mother Pucker Gloss Stick (awful, awful name) in the shade Nudist. Like all Soap & Glory products, this smells amazing - rich, creamy and infused with vanilla; its hard not to love the scent of this one. The colour is fairly muted but just gives a bit of life to bare lips, I'm a massive fan of this one so will no doubt be picking up a few more very soon.
