I have never been much a monthly favourites kind of blogger, but in a bid to become more regular in terms of content I thought I would give it a go for January and see how it pans out. Shall we get started then?
The first thing that I have been loving this month is the Tresemme Platinum Strength Leave in Conditioner because it is the only product that I have come across that can actually de-tangle my post shower dreadlock-esque knots. I don't know why my hair knots as badly as it does, I know there is a lot of it and it's very thick but I do brush it and comb it but, to no avail. So if you are on the hunt for a good, inexpensive (it is currently on offer in Boots) detangler that leaves your hair silky soft, then I truly couldn't recommend this stuff enough. I have spoken about it in a bit more detail in this post so if you want a more in depth review then that's where to head to.
Next up is a nail polish that has not left my nails all month and it is Essie's Wicked, a forever chic. deep, dark red that is so bold and striking, you are sure to get some serious compliments if you decide to try it out. I am a wine-burgundy nail fanatic so when I saw this in Superdrug I knew I needed to add it to my ever expanding collection.
Carrying on with the burgundy, wine, berry theme we have a YSL lipstick in the shade 206 Grenat Satisfaction. I got this for Christmas and actually mentioned it here so I won't bang on about it too much, but all I can say is that the colour is absolutely beautiful it's the perfect combination of rich berry and deep red and the staying power is a whole other ball game. I can pop this on in the morning (underneath a decent lip balm, may I add) and it will not budge all day. I have eaten a risotto, drank coffee, had a whole day at uni and there has been no smudging or budging - so if you are after a decent matte and MAC isn't up your street then pop over to a YSL counter pronto because there are some seriously gorgeous colours on offer if you're not a berry keeno like me.
Next up is a skincare product, and looking back through my blog I haven't done a skincare routine post in a loooooooong time (if ever?), so if that is something you would be interested in seeing then please let me know! Anyway back to the moisturiser, I mentioned this in a recent haul post but now that I have been using it for a bit longer I thought I would give you guys a more in-depth review of it. First up let me just say that I am prone to incredibly dry and dehydrated skin so this product certainly won't be for everyone, but Clinique have a fantastic range of skincare products for every skin type so you are bound to find one that suits you. So, if your skin is like mine than you may have just found your holy grail moisturiser to soothe all your dry skin woes! The Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief is an incredibly light-weight texture and doesn't feel incredibly thick and greasy like other intense moisturisers, but I personally think that just makes it even better. Less is definitely more with this one so although it is quite pricey you will certainly get your money's worth. It sinks into the skin incredibly quickly, perking and plumping it up really nicely, lasting all day. It sits really beautifully underneath makeup as well so those foundations that you have that tend to cling to dry patches certainly won't with this bad boy.
Moving back over to make up, there is one foundation that I have been wearing pretty much everyday I wear makeup and that is the L'oreal True Match. This is a great little everyday option and an apparent dupe for the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. It applies beautifully and really helps even out a dull and lackluster complexion.
Next up is a lip duo that I simply cannot get enough of and it is the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob and MAC's Shy Girl. These two together just create my perfect nude lip and for uni days when I want a little colour these two are ideal. I love the combination of pink from the Rimmel offering and the more brown/peachy tones from MAC - a seriously good combo if you want that "Kylie Jenner lip" (cringe).
This post was definitely longer than I had anticipated but if you've stuck with me this far than you're in for a real treat with this Clinique Cheek Pop in Plum Pop; a really vibrant yet really natural looking flush with a brilliant formula and beautiful colour pay off - what more could you ask for?
That's it for my first ever monthly favourites, I hope you enjoyed it and please let me know if you would like this to be a regular feature, AND everything you have been loving this month too!
