Boosting Your Positivity & Productivity After A Blogging Break


It's been a while but let's move on...

Sometimes taking a break is exactly what you need to in order to get those creative juices flowing, but once that "break" turns into a month or two it can be difficult and daunting to get back behind that keyboard. So, here are my top tips on boosting not only your productivity but also your positivity.

  • ROUTINE - I am a big believer in routine and although i am not always great at sticking to one, when I do, I notice a huge difference. Take sleep for example. Insomnia is something I have battled with ever since my poor parents brought me home from hospital and trust me we have tried every method under the sun but now at the age of 21, I think I have FINALLY nailed it. Go to bed at the same time every night. Set an alarm for the morning and get up. Have a cup of tea and your favourite breakfast. Have a shower, get ready and go out. Either on a drive or a walk or just to do the grocery shopping. It may sound small and insignificant but any form of exercise will tire you out for the ensuing night. When it comes to six o'clock, wind down. Get dinner on the go, watch some tv and then SWITCH OFF. Go to bed at the same time every night with a book and trust me you will notice a difference.

  • PLAN - Getting your ideas down on paper before you turn to the keyboard is a great way of getting back into the swing of things. Don't make a to-do list that is as long as your arm because chances are you won't complete anything on it. Make it manageable and sort it into chunks so that your work doesn't leave you wanting to run for the hills. keeping things realistic is key.

  • DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP - So you haven't posted something in a couple of weeks, so what? Things happen everyday that prevent us from doing what we planned and that is just life, it happens to all of us. Your readers won't stop looking out for a new post if you go on a little break, just like you wouldn't stop refreshing your favourite blog's page in the hope of a new post. So instead of wallowing in self pity, turn that computer on and get typing. You will soon see what you were missing and there will be no stopping you.

  • SELF LOVE & WORDS OF WISDOM - My flat is full of positive little anecdotes to remind me to keep smiling, keep going and to keep working. Litter your desk or creative space with such anecdotes, from coasters to postcards you can find them anywhere and they won't fail in boosting your productivity levels - I promise.
