My Stressed Out Skin Saviours

With the weather being a little all over the place so has my skin. On the whole, I am pretty lucky with my skin, I get the odd blemish, usually on my chin around that time of the month but apart from that its just quite dry. However recently I have had everything from slight exezma to those really uncomfortable under the skin spots and I have had to bring out the big guns from my skincare stash.

The Glossier Solution

Now this one is pretty divisive among the beauty community but I'm personally a fan. I probably started using acid exfoliators about two years ago and the difference has been amazing. The Solution works to slough away dead skin cells through chemical exfoliants, unclogging congested pores and revealing the healthy skin beneath. Since I have started using it, I have noticed my pores are a lot smaller, redness is reduced and my skin has been a lot smoother and softer. However there a few niggly things I don't love about it, is 1) the scent, 2) that it leaves my skin a bit tacky for a few minutes after application. But thats only ever a problem if I want to be in bed pronto! And 3) It is wahaaay too potent for me to use every night so its a once a week treatment for me. I use this in the evening and I always follow up with factor 50 the following morning.

La Roche Posay Effaclare A.I

For a targeted break-out busting product, I always come back to the Effaclare A.I, the Duo's more potent sister. It works really well to help reduce the appearance of localised blemishes, redness and prevent residual marks. I just pop this over the blemish in question last thing before I go to sleep and by the morning it has shrunk down considerably. Even if you don't have problem skin, I would 100% recommend having in your skincare arsenal.

La Roche Posay Effaclare Duo

Although this is specifically formulated for oily, blemish-prone skin, I find it works beautifully on my dry and sometimes sensitive skin. The website describes it as 'a dual action daily gel moisturiser that reduces the appearance of blemishes and blackheads, controls shine and helps protect the skin from the causes of red and brown coloured marks that are often left by spots' - which pretty much sums it up! The biggest way it works for me is that it clears up any congestion with regular use .

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

PSA: this stuff is amazing! This is a 15 minute mask that uses Alpha hydroxyl acids (AHAs) to exfoliate the skin’s top layer for a brighter, more even appearance, while the beta hydroxyl acids (BHAs) work to exfoliate the skin more deeply to clear pore congestion. Paired together these advanced acids offer amazing  exfoliation to help battle blemishes and boost radiance. AND IT IS ONLY £6!

L'Oreal Pure Clay Charcoal Detox Mask

Enriched with charcoal, this drugstore mask acts like a magnet to draw out impurities. Its a clay-based deep cleansing face mask which works to detoxify the skin’s surface and works deep into the pores, leaving the skin looking fresh and clear.

Glossier Priming Moisturiser Rich

I have never really found a moisturiser that I truly loved and repurchased, until I met this one. My gosh, this rich and luxurious cream is just beautiful, my skin genuinely feels like a fluffy cloud after using this. I use this every morning and every evening, I go pretty ham in the evening but its still a beautiful dewy base underneath make up. Glossier promises that ‘this dense sumptuous cream is rich in ceramides and fatty acids, reinforcing the skin barrier and locking in moisture over time’ - and that I can 100% vouch for. This is an absolute must-have for anyone with dry skin.
